Maison Noirot: 130 years of history
A story of passion
Quintessence of plants, flowers and fruits, Noirot aromatic extracts were born from the passion of one man: Théodule Noirot, a botanist and herbalist from Nancy in the last century, Théodule Noirot applied himself from his earliest childhood to creating a herbarium, the beginnings of the precious collection of recipes. Even today, the famous grimoire, acquired by the Antésite company in 1990, reflects his expertise in extraction and flavoring.
Centuries-old know-how perpetuated
Théodule Noirot relied on the traditional methods of monasteries to design popular drinks, as close as possible to nature. In the smallest details, he studied the harvesting of plants, their drying, their conservation, in order to distil their multiple qualities and flavors. Inspired by the secrets of cooks in the countryside or the expertise of monks in the manufacture of liqueurs, the genius inventor will then find the right dosage and process for the creation of his extracts. Thus, his taste for liqueurs, his curiosity for science and his intuitions naturally led him to create a factory in 1890, intended for maceration and distillation in Nancy.
A fusion source of creation
This unique and avant-garde expertise in plant extraction was integrated into the Antésite company in 1990 by Denis Quattrocchi, who, as a visionary, saw the complementary skills between the two brands. In 2011, EXTRACTION and AROMATIZATION, the respective masteries of the ANTÉSITE & NOIROT company, allowed the launch of the first range of flavored wines on the still wine market. History was then underway. The creative spirit of the ANTESITE & NOIROT house revisited the NOIROT ranges to meet market expectations.
A new lease of life in 2023
Since 2023, the two brands Antésite and Noirot, now Maison Noirot, have been part of the LBDV brand portfolio. Based in Isère near Grenoble, the LBDV company (Les Breuvages du Voironnais) manufactures and markets drinks with natural plant, flower and fruit extracts under the brands Antésite, Maison Noirot, and Les Recettes de Théodule. These century-old brands, deeply rooted in French culinary heritage, have stood the test of time thanks to their unique expertise in plant extraction, formulation and aromatic blending. From plant to bottle... A precious heritage that the LBDV teams have been proud to continue and preserve for over 130 years now.
